Description of Incident:

Detectives are hoping someone will recognize a thief with a very distinct fashion sense who was captured by security cameras when he used a cloned credit card to buy an electronic gaming system in mid-June.

On June 18, Rita Freimark’s received an alert that her American Express card had been fraudulently used at several locations. Her card had never left her purse but instead had been cloned when she used it at a gas station. About an hour before the fraud alerts, the card had been used to purchase a Sony PlayStation 4 at a GameStop in Oakland Park and another in Plantation.

The Plantation GameStop security cameras captured the thief as he used the cloned card. The card was also swiped three times at a Toys “R” Us in Coral Springs but was declined each time.

Detectives are looking for a white or Hispanic male in his early twenties, clean shaven with dark hair cut in the style of a short mohawk. He has an athletic build and tan skin. He wore a white T-shirt with a graphic design on the front and back. He also wore peach or pink-colored shorts with an embroidery detail throughout and slide-on shoes with no socks.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Samantha Cottam at (954) 202-3113 or report anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers of Broward County at (954) 493-TIPS (8477) or online at www.browardcrimestoppers.org. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
