BSO SEARCHING FOR KNIFE-WIELDING ROBBER

Broward Sheriff’s Office Robbery detectives are searching for an unidentified man who robbed a female victim at knifepoint in unincorporated Fort Lauderdale. An artist sketch of the suspect is available, as well as a $3,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

At 2:50 a.m. on March 29, I’Lesha Headley was sitting on a bench in Chisholm Park when she was approached by a man who tried to solicit sex from her. When Headley refused, the assailant became angry and took out a knife. The suspect pushed Headley to the ground and held her at knifepoint while the robber searched through Headley’s clothing. The two struggled until the victim was able to bite the man on the leg. The suspect took the victim’s cell phone and then fled on a blue bicycle eastbound on N.W. 8 Street.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene to treat the victim for injuries to her face from the assault. Detectives are looking for a black male, approximately 35 years old. He is tall with a heavy build, bald and has a beard.

Anyone with information about this suspect is asked to contact BSO Detective Vincent Coldwell at 954-321-4208 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or www.browardcrimestoppers.org. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
