Family of gunned down security guard pleas for justice

MIAMI -- The family of a security guard gunned down outside a South Florida restaurant is seeking justice for their loved one's murder.

At 11:45 p.m., on Dec. 8, 50-year-old Presley Francois was found shot dead in his vehicle outside Chez Le Bebe restaurant, located at 114 N.E. 54 St. in Little Haiti.

Francois was a security guard who had been patrolling the restaurant for a year and was wearing his uniform when he was shot and killed. His family said this was his second job to provide for his family in South Florida as well as a family in Haiti, as he was a father of nine.

Officials said that although Francois was armed, it is likely he had no warning before the shooter opened fire.
Meanwhile, Francois' family has been left heartbroken. "I can't sleep," said Francois' wife, Anceline Dantinor. "I can't eat. He was my best friend, and I just miss him so much."

Police said little to no evidence was left at the scene and the motive remains unknown. "I don't understand why someone would just come in and do that," said Dantinor. "Why did you do that? What was the purpose of it?"

Francois' family said he was a hard worker and had no enemies. "What is it that that man could have done to you," added Presley's son Chauncy, "for you to have to kill him like that?"

Now, the heartbroken family is asking for the public's help. "Anyone that's out there," said Dantinor, "I would like for you to just come in if you saw anything. Just talk to the police."

If you have any information on this murder, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
