Abducted girl found 24 years later

A woman abducted from Austin as a toddler has been found 24 years later. Renderings were done over the years as Conner Gibson remained on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children registry.

Officers say the now 26-year-old was abducted by her mother, Amy Kolb, during visitation in Austin in 1990. She was raised in England. Her father, who was granted custody of Gibson before her disappearance, is now living in Mississippi.

Detectives say Gibson had changed her name and recently attempted to obtain a birth certificate. Police demanded a DNA test in exchange.

Gibson obliged and took the test in January. Police say on Monday, DNA evidence confirmed she is in fact the missing child. "This case is an example of how the missing persons, cold case unit works tirelessly throughout the years, you know.

The investigation changed hands different times, but ultimately this had a good result where you found the child, you always assume the worst," said APD Detective J.J. Schmidt. A warrant was issued for Gibson's mother's arrest in 1990. Her father requested the charges dropped in 2010.
